ABOUT

CEARCALL (the Gaelic word for circle) was founded by Scottish Artist/Researcher Siobhan Bell in 2025 as a University of Amsterdam research project; aiming to investigate how artistically  embodying nature based spirituality might be used as a form of ecological activism.

Central to CEARCALL is the community oriented non-hierarchical ethos; the idea that any and many can contribute in a variety of mediums. It’s aim is to reinstate a sense of reverence for the earth and provide a platform for us to both learn from the art and experiences of others alongside expressing sadness, anger or frustration as the current ecological state.

ARTISTIC RESEARCH

Artistic Research is an emerging discipline lying at the intersection between making and analysing. First coined by Elliot Eisner in 1933 ‘Artistic Research’ aims through artistic enquiry to capture the subjectivity of human experience. Principally a mode of humanities research, it is however in close interdisciplinary communication with fields such as the Social and Natural Science's.
